Dissident Review

Publication Date: 17 March 2015
Tour: Dissident by Cecilia London AmazonNookKoboiBooksSmashwords
She once was important. Now she’s considered dangerous.
In a new America where almost no one can be trusted, Caroline lies unconscious in a government hospital as others decide her fate. She is a political dissident, wanted for questioning by a brutal regime that has come to power in a shockingly easy way. As she recovers from her injuries, all she has are her memories. And once she wakes up, they may not matter anymore. Dissident is a blend of romantic suspense, contemporary romance, political thriller, and speculative fiction. Told mostly in flashback, it details the budding romantic relationship between our heroine, Caroline, and Jack, the silver fox playboy who tries to win her heart. Part One of a Six Part Series. Each part is a full length novel between 60,000-120,000 words and ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This saga contains adult situations, including non-gratuitous violence, explicit (consensual) sex, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes dark and gritty plot (particularly in part two).

Sami's Review:
Caroline has had a tough year since the loss of her husband Nicky she is no longer the carefree, fun loving woman she used to be. She has retreated into herself and lashed out unjustly at so many. While she is trying to do better and mend fences she knows it is not going to be easy. Caroline convinces her best friend and fellow Congress woman Christine to invite John McIntyre to her New Years Eve party so that she can try to apologize to him for her slanderous words against him. John arrives at the party yet has no intention of going anywhere near Caroline. He doesn’t want or need her apology. Yet when he is confronted by House Speaker Bob and Congresswoman Christine he decides to seek her out. Thiers is a relationship that started off rocky but built into something beautiful. When the world around them starts to change and become something unrecognizable they fight together. Martial law is in place and many are uprising. On the run from the military these two are hell bent on saving who they can and making things right. Caroline ends up in a hospital and things are not looking good. Maureen one of her assigned Doctors has plans for Caroline that do not involve turning her over to her captors. A thrilling fast paced novel with political and romantic intrigue. Can’t wait for the next part of this series.
